WHAT ARE THE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AREAS WITHIN AN ORGANIZATION?


There are four key transformational areas in Business and Management. These are Business Process Management, Business Asset Management, Business Process Innovation and Business Transformation. These are the main Business processes that are essential to Business Performance. Business Process Management includes core Business activities like accounting, data analysis, planning and scheduling, human resources management and manufacturing. The Business Asset Management covers products and services that create value for the organization.

Business Process Innovation is related to Business Process Management. This Digital transformation involves transforming Business processes with the aid of new technologies. Business process innovation means different things to different people. Some people would include technology leaders, transformers, product developers, and Business analysts. Business models covered under Business concept are Business process innovation, Business process optimization, Business process restructuring, and Business process optimization. Business activities covered under Business concept are Business analysis, Business valuation, Business restructuring, Business plans, and Business strategies.

Digital domains are the ways in which people access information in the digital form. For example, e-mailing, newsgroup visiting and file sharing all fall within the digital domain. These digital domains are called ‘APIs’ or application programming interfaces. The following are some of the digital transformations that can take place within an organization:

– Digital transformation can be achieved through the ‘Social Learning Revolution’. This revolution starts from the turning point of the Net. At this stage, users can meet people from other parts of the world, conduct face to face meetings and share ideas, technology and other aspects of their day to day lives. This meeting takes place at the domain of ‘Social Learning’. The social learning organizations are: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and the like.

– Digital transformation is also possible through ‘Mobile Digital Business’. Here, mobile phones, tablets, and other portable devices make it possible for organizations to keep their employees in the loop. Information can also be shared on the move through various applications. The Digital Business Toolset enables organizations to: conduct surveys via SMS; create apps that give access to real-time data; provide access to business VoIP; capture, store, manage, and disseminate employee demographics; analyze the usage of different devices such as tablets, smartphones, and netbooks. – Enterprise virtualization can transform an organization from a single physical server into multiple virtual servers. It also provides flexibility for application deployment across multiple environments.

– Business transformation means that organizations may need to rapidly migrate from using desktop computer systems to using a wide variety of devices. One such example is the switch to cloud computing. Cloud computing refers to the use of external infrastructure provided by a third party to host user applications. Cloud computing is based on the idea that users need their computing resources (not just storage) stored in a place that is off-site (or even remote) and thus is much cheaper and more convenient than storing the data in-house. Based on this concept, some businesses may have an in-house network, while others may have all their computing resources stored in remote locations, such as a data center.

– Another area that is called digital transformation is the use of information technology to transform information. For instance, in the information age, large companies may have an entire IT department that transforms internal information into digital form. In addition, smaller companies may use software applications to transform information within the company itself.

What are the digital transformations within an organization? Digital transformation is transforming information and turning it into different forms that can be used and accessed by users. This technology is changing the very nature of business and bringing about considerable change to the way organizations do business. Organizations must embrace digital transformation or face the consequences.
